Young Brazilians Knocked Out

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Under-17 team has been knocked out of the international Future Champions Tournament despite playing to a 1-1 draw against Chile’s Universidad de Chile. This after the young Brazilians opened their account at the youth tournament in Belo Horizonte, in Brazil, on Monday where they suffered a 1-0 loss to one of the tournament favourites, Atletico Mineiro of Brazil.
The tournament is made of 12 teams from around the world, who were grouped into four equal groups of three teams each. Only the winner of each group advances to the semi-finals, with the remaining eight teams left to compete in the consolation matches.
After having accumulated one point from two their two Group A games, Downs’ youngsters will be left to play in the consolation games.
Group A is comprised of Atletico Mineiro (Brazil), CF Universidad (Chile), and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa). Group B is made up of FC Barcelona (Spain), CA Penarol (Uruguay), and Cruzeiro. Lastly, Group C is been contested between Everton (England), Club America (Mexico), and Corinthians (Brazil).
The final of the tournament will be played on Sunday the 19th of December.
